What’s' special there to see?👣➤

Galle has an ancient Dutch fort next to the Indian ocean. It was built on the 16th century by Portuguese, renovated by Dutch a few years later. So now also you will see it has Churches, Mosques and Buddhist temples well. So we will start the journey to the fort from the side of the clock tower.

The clock tower of the Galle fort was built in 1883 as a gift from Mudaliyar Samson de Abrew Rajapaksa who was a patient of Dr. P. D. Anthonisz. This famous doctor was a surgeon during the colonial time in Galle. It is the first thing you see when you are visiting Galle.

Next icon in the fort is the Dutch Reformed Church. This is one of the oldest Protestant churches in the country. It has some beautiful stained glass work inside the buildings. It's a very nice quiet place that you can wander around to see some great architectural ideas influenced by Dutch architecture.
All Saints' Church is an Anglican next to this is also a good place to explore Gothic Revival architecture in Galle Fort. So we make sure you visit both of the churches when visiting Galle.

Once you walk down the ramparts, you meet a Buddhist temple and Meera Muslim mosque close to each other. Those are the highlights of our tour as well. End of the ramparts, you see the Sri Lanka's oldest lighthouse on the edge of the fort. This place is also knowing as Point Utrecht Bastion, with a full view of the ships coming to the fort.
